Mobile Operating Systems

A mobile operating system or mobile OS, is an operating system that is designed to run on all mobile devices such as mobile phones, smartphones, tablet computers and other mobile and handheld devices.

The mobile os enables you to synchronize your phone so that emails, photos, documents and your calendar updates appear on both your phone as per your requirements.

This can be really make a difference and helps save a lot of time in not having to duplicate information that takes up space.

The Apple IOS  is the operating system designed to run on devices that include the Apple's iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch.

It can multitask and responds to touch - whereby you click on the screen to open a program, minimize or maximize an image, or swipe your finger across the screen to chApple products are popular among the status conscious and are the most expensive but well designed mobile devices.

They do not support a type of software called Flash which lots of internet sites use to show video and you are locked into the Apple Brand because the operating system only works on Apple products. 

Apple products are known for strict quality control measures which ensures that the apps and hardware will work perfectly together.

One can download apps that are currently available on the App Store directly to any device running iOS, be it an iPhone or an iPad and they cover everything from movies, books, music, productivity tools and many more.

    Android is an open source operating system which means any software developer can develop new programs and these will work on any unlocked hardware. 

    It is the a rapidly growing and most popular smartphone operating system and is expected to retain its position as the most used mobile operating system worldwide.

    Google has unique names for the various versions of its Android operating system like Jelly Bean, Ice cream sandwich, Lollipop and Nougat.
     

    It is an open source operating system where anyone can develop apps without licensing restrictions, allowing consumers to benefit from free apps.
     

    Its features include its ability to customize multiple home screens with useful widgets and apps that give you quicker, easier access to the content and functions that are useful to work with.

    It works well for a multitasking device with the ability to open and close programs with a swipe of the screen.

    The operating system supports NFC also known as near field communication which allows the phone to communicate and work with other compatible devices around your home, like the smart TV to share video and photos and many more.

    Google maps is another feature that comes that helps to navigate with the ability to view in 3D and use satellite images.
     

    Finally, Google store has a wide variety of apps to chose from that are free, useful and easy to use as per your requirements.

    The Windows operating system was the result of a partnership between Microsoft and Nokia, both leaders in their respective fields of expertise.
     Microsoft owns the windows based operating system, the most used software platform on desktops and laptops worldwide.

    Microsoft developed the Windows mobile operating platform with a range of  high quality smartphones from Nokia.
    Microsoft released the first windows mobile os in 2010, with the latest version being windows 10 that was designed for better user experience.

     It has a tile-based interface called Metro that has removable and interchangeable blocks on the home screen, each with its own purpose and function that enables access multiple email accounts, text, photo's and social media. 

    This has enabled smooth  integration into social media and the tile based system is instantly recognizable by windows desktop PC users.

    It also has aggregators that group together all photos from all applications, or all music into one library, meaning your Facebook photos can be found with your camera photos and your documents from different sources grouped together in one, easy to access location.
     


    Windows Phone has a mobile-optimised version of the Internet Explorer for accessing the web, and Exchange, which supports secure corporate e-mail accounts.
    Blackberry OS is the latest version of the operating system which runs exclusively on Blackberry phones often highly regarded for business use.

    Blackberry was the mobile phone choice for business users but got left behind when other manufacturers developed touch screens and business apps. 

    Recently it attempted a comeback with the launch of the Blackberry 10 and an improved operating system.

    It has a good screen but navigation is not than intuitive and takes a little getting used too. 

     You are able to zoom in and view a split screen which even includes 3D effect and the messaging system is the best available.

    Web browsing works on the device well and it has a clear and easy management system for all your multimedia such as photos, video and many more.

    BlackBerry 10 OS when it launched, had apps such as Kindle ebook reader, WhatsApp for free messaging and other media download tools to come. Business apps are well represented as expected, while social media sites Facebook, Twitter and the more corporate LinkedIn are all pre-installed. 

    It has tried to be the operating system of choice for business users although the lack of apps compared with its rival has left it struggling to catch up with the competition and remain an attractive option for users.
